To answer this question, we must first consider and adjust ourselves to the particular child. The personal wishes of the educator/parent must be put completely aside. Every child must eventually denounce the teachings of his educator and go his own way on earth. Even if the educator/parent sincerely wishes to impact in the child those experiences which he himself had to undergo in his life on earth, with the hope of sparing the child much in the way of disappointment, loss and pain. But in most cases, the educator achieves very little! In the end, the educator has to recognize that all his efforts and good intentions have been utterly in vain, for at a certain time the maturing child will suddenly and unexpectedly go his own way and forget or disregard all admonitions.
No parent should feel bad about this, for despite their good volition, they have failed to realize that the child they wished to educate is unlikely to follow in their footsteps to fulfil his purpose on earth. All the experiences which the educator/parent underwent in the past were intended and necessary for the educator. They were therefore only of use to the educator, provided he could absorb them in the right manner. Therefore, the experiences of the educator cannot bring the same benefit to the child.
The child’s spirit must pass through entirely different experiences that are in accordance with the threads of fate connected with the child. No two human beings can follow the same path for the purpose of furthering their spiritual maturing! The experiences of one person are therefore spiritually valueless for any other person. And if one person exactly follows and imitates the footsteps of another, he will run the risk of frittering away his own time on earth! Until a child reaches maturity, we should only prepare the tools which are needed for its life on earth, and nothing else, namely, the physical body with all its gross material functions. Exercise the greatest care to see that you do not distort or even completely disable it through excesses or one-sidedness!
